Obituary of Kenneth Hurst

Talladega- Kenneth Huey Hurst, 72, passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 2014. Mr. Hurst was born on July 18, 1940 in Renfroe, Alabama. He served in the Vietnam War and received numerous medals and accommodations during his 30 plus years of service. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Alabama Army National Guard. He worked construction many years as a steel welder. Mr. Hurst was member of Norview Masonic Lodge chapter 113 in Norfolk, VA. He was a previous member of the Talladega County Reserve Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Hurst is preceded in death by his parents Huey and Josie Hurst, sisters Peggy McDaniel and Betty Ratliff. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Patsy Hurst, Talladega, son Michael Hurst (Amy) Sylacauga, 2 step sons Ronnie Walters, Talladega and John Walters (Denise) of Birmingham. Daughter Lea Hurst, Talladega and step daughter Roxie Anne Young (Ricky) Talladega, 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Usrey-Brown Funeral Home in the chapel on Friday January 10, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to any Hospice organization.
