May Z. Jenkins, 86 of Talladega, passed away in the home of her daughter, Rebecca and son-in-law Robert Powell in Bailey, North Carolina on Wednesday September the 12, 2012. She passed in her sleep, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 2 PM at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Sam Tate will officiate and burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. May Z was a long time resident of Talladega, AL. She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church and was a talented seamstress and loved working with her hands. She was cheerful, loving and kind and people were blessed to be around her. She leaves to cherish her memory, Becky and Bobby Powell, her daughter and son-in-law; her granddaughters Cheryl Powell McCoy of Raleigh, North Carolina and Cindy Powell Steele of Michigan, great granddaughters: Sarah McCoy Skinner and Abby McCoy, great grandsons Josh McCoy, John Cline, and Steven Cline; brother, Ray V. Tompkins of AL, sister Shirley Ball (Daniel) of Talladega, AL. Stanley Jenkins and Sharon Jones her step children and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard R. Jenkins, son Kelley B. Jenkins, grand daughter Angela Powell, grandson Bobby Hubbard, parents Robert and Minnie Bean Tompkins, brothers Clyde and Gene Tompkins and sister, Lemurle Lowery.
