Mr. Hayes passed away August 10, 2012 at Citizens Hospital. He was a WWII Veteran and a self-employed farmer in Talladega County. He is preceded in death by his step-daughter, Maureen Gallops and step-son, Ronald Smith. He is survived by his wife: Lena May Hayes, step-son, Tommy Smith, (Tennie), 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters, Joyce Josey (Sonny), Martha Williams (Voner) and Margaret Caldwell.
