Obituary of John Wesley Hendrick

Funeral service for John Wesley “Punkin” Hendrick III, 67, of Grasmere, will be Monday at 2 PM at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Rev. Joel Maxwell and Rev. Calvin Shaw will officiate and burial in Laniers Cemetery. His family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7 PM at Usrey Funeral Home. Mr. Hendrick passed away June 29, 2012 in Birmingham. “Punkin” was a native of Talladega County and a long time resident of Grasmere. He was a charter member of Boiler Makers Local #108 with 30 years of service and a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church. He was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was a man who always put his family first. He is preceded in death by is parents, John Wesley “Duke” and Mary Hendrick, and brother Stanley Ragan. Mr. Hendrick is survived by his wife of 34 years, Pat Castleberry Hendrick; children, John Wesley Hendrick IV (Cindy), James Hendrick (Tammy), Eddie Strickland (Shonda), Joey Strickland (Nancy), Stacy Hall (Travis), Mary Land (Tom); grandchildren, Caleb Hendrick, Matthew Hendrick, Conner Hendrick, Nick Strickland, Jordan Hall, Tiffany Strickland, Daniel Hall, Ryan Strickland, Lauren Brannon and several cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Caleb, Conner and Matthew Hendrick, Mark and Todd Crews, Jordan Hall, Robert Vincent, and Kelly Castleberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Hall, Gerald and Larry Crews, Joe Tom and Wayne Armbrester, and Ryan and Nick Strickland. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church.
