Born July 6, 1924 in Tallapoosa, GA to Lizzie and Thomas J. McAlpin. Her homegoing was June 4, 2012 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Herbert Nelson, son, Macon Ray, Jr., daughter, Pamela Phillips, and grandson Jeffrey Ray. She is survived by her husband of over 45 years Macon Ray, Sr., 4 daughters, Josephine (Billy) Edwards of Carrollton, GA., Mary (Gene) Wymer of Norfolk, VA., Jean (Ron) Byer of Lincoln, AL., and Carol (Jim) Wymer of Ft. Wayne, IN.; 2 sons, John C. (Kay) Ray of Eastaboga, AL., and Donald R. (Joy) Ray of Harlem, GA., 15 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and an uncountable number of friends. She enjoyed traveling the ocean and living on the water. However, her family and friends made her the happiest. Even though we rejoice at her final journey home, she will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched. Visitation will be Saturday, June 9, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Internment will be at Eastaboga Cemetery. Flowers are welcome but donations to First Baptist Church of Talladega or Lakeside Hospice of Pell City will last longer. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will handle arrangements.
