Funeral Service for James Purvis Harmon 86, of Munford will be Friday at 2:00 pm at the Munford Church of Christ. Shane Clark and Jeff Clark will officiate. He will lie in state Friday from 1:00 – 2:00pm. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Munford Church of Christ, 143 Main Street, Munford, AL 36268. The burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery in Munford.
Mr. Harmon passed away at home on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
He is survived by one son, James Michael Harmon (Lynda); one daughter, Susan Kay Harmon Haynes (Wilburn Ralph), all of Munford; two sisters, Beatrice Harmon Holmes and Rachel Harmon Duke; five grandchildren, Brent Farris Haynes, Wyatt Mark Harmon (Greta), Julie Ann Harmon Campbell (Clay), all of Munford, Heath Michael Harmon (Holley), of Oxford, AL and Kyle Burk Haynes (Cratina), of Chelsea, AL; twelve great-grandchildren, Shelby Fall Haynes, Breanna Gail Haynes, Alysia Dawn Haynes, Jesselyn Rain Haynes, Kylie Grace Haynes, Colton Larry Haynes, Halaya Annette Harmon, Hudson Heath Harmon, Regan Brianna Harmon, Alex James Harmon, Natalie Grace Brewer, Mallory Ann Campbell and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Mary Ruth Camp Harmon, his parents John Wyatt Harmon and Verdie Smith Harmon, siblings: Permelia Harmon Smith, Velma Harmon Armbrester, John Odell Harmon, Edith Harmon Parnell and Robert Grady Harmon.
Mr. Harmon was a member of the Munford Church of Christ. He was a loving father, and special Paw Paw to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He lived a faithful Christian life before all of them.
He worked at Barber Dairy for 42 years, several local grocery stores and the Munford Senior Center after retirement. He was a member of the Munford Senior Center and enjoyed the fellowship for many years.

Special appreciation to his granddaughter Cratina for all the love and care she gave Paw Paw.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
