Shirley Sallas Thompson, 76, of Anniston, AL passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2024. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Amy DeWitte officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was a native of Talladega but lived most of her adult life in Anniston. She was a member of Anniston First United Methodist Church, and she retired from Easter Seals Opportunity Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Bernard Brown III; mother¸ Bettie Obert Taylor, and father, Bill Sallas. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her sons, Hugh Clark Brown, John Clay Caldwell (Tami), Joshua Alton Caldwell (Leah), and grandchildren, Caley, Abby, Maci, Weston, Noah, and Daelynn Caldwell. Noah Caldwell, Weston Caldwell, Keith Obert, Scott Whitney, Jonathan Hammett, and Danny Jones will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Thompson’s family asks that donations be made in her memory to Anxiety and Depression Association of America at donate.adaa.org or 8701 Georgia Avenue, Suite 412, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
