Mr. Larry Gene Byars, 80, of Odenville, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Larry was born on May 20, 1943, in Lovick, Alabama to Hazel Lee Harmon and William Judson Byars. He was a tough but loving man who loved to spend his time in the woods hunting and on the lake fishing. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1960. He later worked for Brown's Life Insurance, Power Generation and eventually retired from Lehigh Cement Plant in 1985. Larry married the love of his wife Charlie Mae Hargrove on October 28, 1961. They lived and loved for 49 years until her death in 2011. Together they had 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlie, and daughter Sheril Byars. Larry is survived by his children Buddy (Yvonne), Tina, Michael (Andry), Mitchell (Joyce); daughter-in-law, Jasmin; grandchildren, Christin (Jack), Justin (Christina), Larry (Harley), Amanda (Chris), Kristina, Michael (Kendyl), Steven, Angelina; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Aiden, Isaac, Evelyn, Brodie, Addie, Gentry, Khloe, Remington, Conner and Kyra; siblings, Phillip (Bonnie), Jay (Judy), Pam (Donald), and Bill. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home - Pell City from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023. The funeral service will be officiated by Bro. Philip Brewer at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Usrey Funeral Home - Pell City. Interment will be at Pope's Chapel Cemetery. The family gives special thanks to his hospice team for all of their help and support. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
