Donna Jo Elders Jones, born in Gadsden, Alabama, passed away on the morning of July 24, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.

Donna was the daughter of Betty Jo Dunlap and Ernest Ladell Elders. She devoted 25 years of service to the Alabama Department of Corrections and was a member of Reeves Grove Baptist Church in Steele, Alabama. She was also a longtime supporter of Susan G. Komen and contributed to its work in the fight against breast cancer.

Above all else, Donna loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her ability to make others laugh, and the love she showed through her amazing cooking. Time spent around her table created countless memories that her family will always treasure.

Donna is survived by her husband, Sidney Jones; her children, Kiley Phillips and his spouse, Kathy, Sydni Cherry and her spouse, Michael, and Luke Jones and his spouse, Holley; her brother, Freddie Neal Elders; her sister, Joy Dell Thompson; as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Keith Elders.

Donna was cremated, and no formal funeral or memorial service will be held. Her family will honor and remember her privately, carrying forward the love, laughter, and memories she gave them throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
