Shirley Ann Martin Smith, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on June 27th, 2026. She was born on May 6, 1944. She was a lifelong resident of Wattsville.

She is survived by her daughters Charlotte Warrender, Robin Layfield (Danny Aldridge), Alicia Dawn Howard (Chris), & Pamela St. John (Jered); Grandchildren Angela Wilson, Andy Layfield, Adam Sweatt, Chasity Lowery & Courtney Taylor; 8 great grandchildren; her sister Phillis Shawn Tucker.

She was preceded in death by daughter Jeanna Gail Smith; her parents Dewie Willard and Alice Lois West Martin, and her siblings Peggy Jean Griffith, Willard Dean (Bub) Martin, Ester Annette Wolf and Violet Marie Parnell.

Shirley was the Postmaster at the Wattsville Post Office from 1981 until she retired in 2007. Shirley loved gardening, crafting and painting. Although she enjoyed doing those things and was a very talented artist, her absolute favorite hobby was chasing butterflies!

Funeral services will be held at Usrey Funeral Home on June 30th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
