Sylvia Elaine Rayfied, 79, of Munford, AL passed away in LaPorte, Indiana on Thursday, June 18, 2026. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Stockdale Baptist Church with David Gaither and Mick Barnett officiating. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the ceremony at Stockdale Baptist Cemetery.

With love and gratitude, we honor, remember and celebrate the life of our beloved mother, whose love, faith, and devotion shaped generations of our family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by the father of her seven children, Robert E. Loftis.

She was the proud mother of seven children—four daughters, Teresa Simmons (James), Christine Maddux, Dorothy Greene, and Connie Brackett, and three sons, Robert Loftis (Lindsey), John Loftis (Sarah), and Jim Loftis (Lori). Her legacy continues through her 24 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a part of her love, wisdom, and spirit.

She was also a cherished sister to five brothers and one sister, and a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Family was at the center of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to gather with those she loved. Whether it was sharing a meal, celebrating special occasions, or simply spending time together, she found her greatest joy in family.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. She loved attending church, participating in Bible study, and growing in her relationship with God. Her faith guided her actions, strengthened her through life’s challenges, and inspired those around her. She lived her beliefs through kindness, compassion, generosity, and prayer.

Our mother taught us the importance of love, faith, and family. She showed us how to care for one another, how to remain strong in difficult times, and how to trust in God’s plan. The values she passed down will continue to guide us for generations to come.

Though we miss her deeply, we are grateful for the many years we were blessed to have her in our lives. We find comfort in the memories we shared, the lessons she taught us, and the love she gave so freely.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will remain in our hearts forever.

Robert Loftis, John Loftis, Jim Loftis, Richard Knoll Jr., James Simmons, and Matthew Loftis will serve as pallbearers.
