Freddie William Green Obituary
Freddie William Green, age 84, went peacefully into Heaven on May 30, 2026, at his daughter’s home in McDonough, Georgia.
Freddie was born in Harpersville, Alabama, to the late Elvin Green and Mary Martin Green. He joined the national guard and served his country for six years, married his high school sweetheart and went on to graduate with a music degree at what was formally known as Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Florida. Freddie served as a full time Minister of Music, and sometimes assisted with youth, education and activities, in several Alabama cities, including his last call to Hepzibah Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama.
He was known by many as a great man of God who demonstrated his faith in Jesus by serving his Lord and Savior in the community, the church, and his family. He was a good friend to many, a mentor to those needing spiritual and music guidance, and a father to the fatherless. He was good at making people feel loved and accepted. Freddie was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed, especially his good hugs and infectious smile. One of his favorite things to do was build wheelchair ramps for those who needed one. He enjoyed sitting in his “happy place” watching the deer and turkeys feed in his backyard. This selfless son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather was dearly loved and adored, but his greatest legacy was his devotion to his Lord and Savior.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Deryl Green, and his sister Elizabeth “Beth” Green Johns.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patsy Davis Green; two daughters, Scarlett Green (Earl) Snider of Cartersville, Georgia, and Melanie Green (Mark) Hall of McDonough, Georgia; six grandchildren, Nicole Snider (Martin) Connell, Austin (Heather) Snider, John Michael (Noelle) Hall, Reagan Hall (John) Meyer, Zoe Hall (Lucas) Reed, Hope Hall, and six great grandchildren, along with a sister, Jean Green Robinson.
His family wants to thank his extended family, lifetime friends, and church family for their love and support over the years.
A graveside ceremony will be held in his honor at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery. A celebration of life ceremony will take place in the church directly after the graveside service. Chuck Oliver and Mack Ferguson are officiating. Mr. Green’s family will receive friends following the celebration of life.
