Lisa Kay Miller Obituary
Lisa Kay Miller, 62, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2026. She passed away peacefully at her
home, surrounded by her family.
Lisa was a longtime resident of Talladega and a member of Harvest Church of God. She was
steadfast in her faith, loving unconditionally and without judgment. Lisa was devoted to her family, especially her beloved son Jackson, who was her greatest gift, and her husband of 36 years, Thad. Jackson was her pride and joy, not only for his intellect, hard work, and musical talents, but also for his character and faithfulness. She felt immensely grateful to have him by her side during her battle with pancreatic cancer, and for his commitment to caring for her so that she could be at home, surrounded by her family and friends, for her final
days. She loved her husband Thad dearly, and some of her favorite memories with him included visiting the beach, attending concerts, and driving up Cheaha Mountain together.
As the youngest of four siblings, she looked up to and loved her brother and sisters, who cherished her for her selflessness, honesty, and wit. Her siblings were especially grateful to her and her son Jackson for the dedication and strength they showed in caring for their mother Shirley in her final years, who Lisa described as her best friend. Lisa also loved and was loved by her many nieces and nephews. When they were young, their Aunt Lisa was a constant at the “kids table.” In later years, she was an unwavering source of support. At family gatherings, she often would be found on the floor playing with her grand- nieces and nephews, who fondly knew her as “Grammy Lisa”—perhaps one of her favorite titles of all.
Lisa was a committed employee of Noland Health Services, Inc., where she worked for more than 20 years. She began in 2005 as the Business Office Manager at the Village at Cook Springs, then worked as a Third-Party Specialist, and in recent years was promoted to the Director of the Central Billing Office, where she thrived as a leader at the company.
Lisa cared deeply for her friends and co-workers, who brought her joy throughout her life. She dedicated her time volunteering in her community, serving as the former President of the Junior Welfare League. And she loved all children and animals, especially her dogs, who were fiercely loyal to her. Her beloved dog Champ never left her side.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Morris Kay. She is survived by her husband Thad and her son Jackson; her sister Deborah Miller and her husband, Jeffrey; her sister Marcia Cochran; her brother Morris Kay and his wife, Allison; nieces and nephews Luke Cochran; Kasdin Mitchell and her husband, David; Betsey Cochran; Torrie Matous and her husband, Kyle; Justin Kay and his wife, Nicole; and Savannah Kay; and grand-nieces and nephews Brionna Wilson, Kayne Crook, Miller Mitchell, Madeline Mitchell, Kayven Russell,
Charles Matous, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Thomas Matous.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Pine Hill Mausoleum in Talladega, Alabama. Pastor Don Maddox will officiate. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the services.
