Our family unexpectedly lost our beloved Gigi, Marsha Johns Wiggins, on April 30, 2026.

Born on August 23rd, 1953, to Tommie and Bobby Gene Johns of Talladega, Alabama.

Marsha spent her adult life in Opelika, Alabama and later Birmingham, Alabama to be an active part of her grandchildren’s days.

Marsha made an impact on all she encountered. She had a talent for watercolor and flowers and shared her gifts generously.

Marsha’s career in Opelika began with Dr. John Naftel, DMD. Doc and Rita (and the girls) were an integral part of her life and were cherished like family.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Wiggins and daughter Laura Carden (Barrett), grandchildren EV Carden and James Carden, her sisters; Margaret Langley (Duck), Miranda Parton (Russ), and Elaine Johns, her niece Chrissy Jenkins (Jay), her nephew Colt Langley (Katy) and several great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Marsha’s life will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 11:00 AM at Hepzibah Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama.

Marsha spent much of her life in and around flower shops. Her first job was delivering for Nina and Bunky Nabors at Nabors Flower Shop in Talladega. She had a special gift for reviving plants of difficult nature. (Plus the ones neglected by her daughter!) She made it a recent mission to brighten the front desk of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School with floral extras from Davis Wholesale Florist nearly every week. Davis Wholesale Florist (Andy and Mary) played an incredibly special part in Marsha’s time in Birmingham.

In lieu of flowers her family shares that a memorial fund has been set up at Renasant Bank— Crestline, 44 Church Street, Birmingham, AL 35213, Gigi’s Grandbabies c/o Laura Carden.
