Ross Mitchell Self, son of the late Frank P. Self and Ruby M. Self, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 30, 2026. A celebration of his life and visitation will be held at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.

He attended school in Hueytown, Alabama, and went on to study at The University of Alabama. In 1958, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1964.

Shortly after completing his military service, Ross founded International Enterprises Incorporated in 1969 in Talladega, Alabama. His company proudly served the United States armed forces and became a cornerstone of the local community. Over the decades, it employed hundreds of people and provided stable careers for many families—some of those positions remain active to this day.

Ross was a dedicated Mason and a dual member of the Masonic Lodge in both Camden and Talladega, Alabama. An avid outdoorsman with exceptional vision and a deep love for nature, he championed conservation efforts as President of the Alabama Wildlife Federation and as a member of the Alabama Department of Conservation advisory board. His passion and leadership left a lasting impact on wildlife preservation in the state.

He is survived by his three children, Kamie Self, Franklin Self, and Hunter Self (wife Crystal); and his grandchildren, Lindsey, Kayde, Hayden, and Maddox; and three great grandchildren.
