Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Worley Hubbard Obituary
Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Worley Hubbard, 90, of Talladega, AL passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Her family will hold a memorial service in her honor at a later date.
Mrs. Hubbard was a native of South Charleston, West Virginia. She graduated from South Charleston High School in 1953 where she was also crowned the Miss Black Eagle Homecoming Queen. After high school, Libby met her husband, Frank, who was an Air Force pilot in Germany, and they were married in Bitburg, Germany in 1957. Libby and Frank continued their lives together in many different places abroad and in the United States before settling in Talladega, Alabama. Mrs. Hubbard retired from First National Bank of Talladega, and she attended First Presbyterian Church of Talladega where she loved playing in the bell choir. She also enjoyed playing bridge and bingo and shopping, especially for purses and shoes. Travelling was one of her favorite pastimes as well—particularly to the beach. Libby spent the last few years of her life at Brown Nursing and Rehabilitation where she added another crown to her collection by winning Miss Brown Nursing and Rehabilitation 2024. She will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hubbard; son, Stephen Hubbard; mother, Hazel Worley; father, George Worley, and son-in-law, Mark Smith.
Mrs. Hubbard is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Smith and Allison Appleton (Scot), grandchildren, Jared Smith (Louise), Ashleigh Hanak (Brandon), and Megan Stevens, and several great-grandchildren.
