Evelyn S. Lightsey, 73 of Goodwater passed away April 24,2026 at her residence surrounded by family. Originally from Talladega, she worked at Avondale Mills and was a member of West End Church of God. She was described as the life of the party and always smiling.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Lightsey Jr., parents Otis and Marvin Simpson, brothers James, Jesse, Gene and Turman Simpson, sisters Beatrice Bates and Kathryn Hutton, and one grandchild.

She is survived by her three children Richard (Mary), Anna (Barry), Amanda (Scott), five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, two sisters Virgina Browning and Elsie Lightsey, a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 28,2025 at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel in Talladega. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Reverend Kevin Jones will officiate the services. Her family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randall Browning, CJ Garner, Harvey Browning, Arron Wetlenson, Gary Dane Osbourn and DJ Browning. Usrey Funeral Home will direct the services.
