Stan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, working in the area of military intelligence during the Viet Nam conflict.
Stan began helping Theresa in the ministry in 1997. After they were married, Stan and Theresa continued together directing the missionary ministries of Good Shepherd Mission and Elijah’s Barrel, ministries modeled after the Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky. For the next seventeen years, these two led the efforts in the Pell City area and beyond of a variety of ministries to hundreds and thousands of persons. These ministries included: Elijah’s Barrel and it’s four local stores, a newsletter, a large warehouse ministry called Operation Sharing that housed donations from all over the nation. This ministry provided free materials that helped share the gospel in twenty- seven countries; food giveaways; a ministry in Mexico called Good Shepherd Missions South and even a few weddings performed inside Elijah’s Barrel. Only heaven itself will know the impact of Elijah’s Barrel that lasted until 2013.
After that phase ended, the Good Shepherd ministry has continued with a prayer line and other local efforts.
Stan will be remembered as “Pastor Stan” as he served the Lord together with his wife.
A celebration of Stan’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at The Venue on 20th: 10 20th Street South, Pell City, AL 35125 (former Elijah’s Barrel Store). General visitation will be between 1 and 3 p.m. A Celebration of Life will begin at 3:00 p.m.
