Billy Eugene McDowell, passed away on April 4th, 2026, surrounded by his family. He

was born on July 18th, 1935, in Bowling Greene, Florida, to Floyd and Gertrude

McDowell. Billy devoted his life to his family and his faith, raising four children. He was a

veteran of the Air Force, an active member of his church and enjoyed fishing, bowling,

watching his grandchildren play sports, going out to eat and peanuts.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Gertrude, his wife of 63 years, Sarah Will McDowell,

his son, Mark Eugene McDowell and 2 brothers, Henry and Sorrell.

Billy is survived by his children, Lori Dunn (Wayne) of Talladega, AL, Sandra McDowell of Talladega, AL,

Steve McDowell of Pinellas Park, FL and Vicky Curlee (Jeremy) of Pinellas Park, FL.

ten grandchildren, Azure Caudle (Denny), Chris Boyett, Jessica Pyron (Kevin), Bobbi

Smith (Michael), Sorrell Dunn (Sierra), Amber McDowell, Derek McDowell (Lyndsey),

Tatum McDowell, Deidre Pruitt (Joseph), Autumn Curlee, and Justin Curlee; twenty great

grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at

Usrey Funeral Home on April 9th, at 2 p.m. The family invites friends to share memories

and celebrate a life well-lived. Usrey Funeral home in Talladega will direct the services.
