James "Duane" Nixon Obituary

James “Duane” Nixon, 54, of Lincoln, AL passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 21, 2026. His family will announce a memorial service at a later date.


Mr. Nixon was a native and lifelong resident of Lincoln and a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was currently employed in maintenance at the Pilot in Lincoln. Duane enjoyed fishing, drawing, woodworking, and video games, and he was an avid University of Alabama fan. Known for his big heart, he was always helping others and checking on the elderly people in his life. Mr. Nixon was always joking around. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Duane loved his family deeply and will be greatly missed by them all.


He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Nixon, mother, Joyce J. Rice, and brother, Shawn Nixon.


Mr. Nixon is survived by his sister, Briggett Wideman (Steve); stepfather, Jim Rice; nieces, Marrissa Greenwood (Gene), Morgan Wideman, Violet Nixon, and Bayleigh Greenwood, and nephews, Warren Nixon and Axl Greenwood.
