Mrs. Mary Lee Mostella, 74, of Pell City, passed away on February 1, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon David Mostella, whom she missed profoundly. Their life together—and the home he built for her—remained central to her sense of comfort and belonging.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Flora Mae and Charles Pope, whose influence shaped her devotion to family, faith, and care for others throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Cal Mostella; daughter, Amy Graham (Allen); grandchildren, Mary Grace Smith (Grant), Kalei Graham (Zack Kirk), Gus Graham, and Gabby Joy Graham; great-grandchild, Shepherd Smith; sister, Kim Pope; brothers, Wes Pope (Fran) and Matt Pope (Nan); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted mother and a lifelong educator who showed love through care, preparation, and presence. There was no one who worried more, planned more, or loved more fiercely.
She worked for many years as a kindergarten teacher, known for her creativity and her special heart for children who struggled, a reflection of her own early experiences. Her quiet encouragement left a lasting imprint on both her students and her family.
She was also a devoted writer and journaler, filling countless notebooks with reflections on faith, family, and daily life. Her home reflected that same care—always thoughtfully prepared and ready to welcome others. Holidays and gatherings mattered deeply to her, and she took great pride in bringing her family together.
Those who knew her will remember her attention to detail, her love of lists and plans, her creativity, her faith, and the deep care she showed for the people and spaces she loved. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the love she gave so generously.
A graveside service will be held at St. Clair Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
