Victor Wren Turner Obituary

Victor Wren "The Rebel" Turner, 69, of Munford, Alabama, passed away on January 14, 2026, a date that fittingly reflected his favorite number, 14, the racing number he proudly carried as 14Jr. A funeral service will be held in his honor will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Ted Lackey officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Munford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Wren was born on September 5, 1956, to Howard Earlie Turner and Lila Robinson Turner. He was the second of three siblings, preceded by Vicki and followed by Shane and Kandis.

Wren was known for his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor. He was constantly telling jokes and had a rare ability to find something funny in any moment. His sharp memory, paired with that humor, made him a captivating storyteller—one who could transport you straight into the stories he told. He was also well known for his talent as a racecar driver, a passion that reflected both his competitive spirit and love for speed.

A graduate of Munford High School, many of Wren’s favorite and most frequently shared stories began there. He loved recalling moments such as driving a school bus as a teenager, raising a bull for the Agricultural Club, and being blamed for losing the football game against Lincoln—so much so that he was supposedly expected to walk home from Lincoln to Munford.

Wren was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Aaron Thomas Wysoczynski, and by his parents, Howard Earlie Turner and Lila Robinson Turner.

He is survived by his children: Erica Wren Turner Wysoczynski (Chris), Natalie Anne Turner, and Victor Wren Turner Jr. (Hillary); his grandchildren: Ava Wysoczynski, Harper and Hazel Korreckt, and Callie, Charlee, and Crue Turner. He is also survived by his siblings: Vicki Turner Lott (Ronnie), Shane Turner (Sonya), and Kandis Swinford; his ten nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly; his great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other loving family members.

Wren’s humor, stories, and racing legacy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Though he has taken his final lap, his legacy lives on, and the checkered flag waves in his honor.
