Virginia Coxwell Sullivan Obituary

Virginia Coxwell Sullivan peacefully passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at her home in Lincoln, Alabama. Virginia was born in Blountstown, Fl April 15, 1933, to the late E.L. Coxwell and Lova Lee Crozier-Coxwell.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Judge William C Sullivan and her only child, Samuel Wayne Lowery. Also preceding her in passing were brothers, Royce Gene Coxwell, Donnie Lee Coxwell and Ronnie L. Coxwell.

Virginia graduated from Blountstown High School and afterwards attended Florida State University where she majored in Business Administration. While there she was active in campus activities and in her senior year was crowned Miss Florida State. Later she would attend Jacksonville State University where she obtained her master's degree in education. Virginia spent forty collective years in the noble profession of teaching, shaping the minds and hearts of students in the elementary classrooms in Alabama where she was known for her unyielding commitment to student success. She ended her career at Saks Elementary in Calhoun County where she taught the fourth grade and served as a lead teacher. Her teaching skills were phenomenal, and it was the lucky student who found themself assigned to her classroom.

In Virginia Sullivan’s retirement she found joy in volunteering for various community efforts and was especially proud to work with The Food Pantry in Lincoln, Al. Her passion was keeping an immaculate yard, free of pesky geese, with the assistance from the wonderful Teen Challenge Agency. Every shrub and blade of grass was a source of pride to her and reinforced the value of taking time to appreciate the simple, quiet things in nature. Let us

honor her wish by caring for the world around us with the same love, patience, and dedication Virginia Sullivan displayed.

It is with deep appreciation to Lakeside Hospice as well Open Heavenly Elderly Care, Visiting Angels and their wonderful staffs for the love and care they provided for Virginia Sullivan and all of her close circle of friends during this period of time.
