Mindel Lou Harris Lawson, 77, of Talladega, AL passed away at her home on Thursday, December 25, 2025. A graveside ceremony will be held in her honor at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Hepzibah Baptist Cemetery with Chuck Oliver officiating.

Mrs. Lawson was born in Clay County, Alabama, to Bonnie Mae and Burt Harris. She started her career working at Newberry Foundry before spending several years at Radio Station in Talladega. Mindel retired from the human resources department at Kimberly Clark after many years of service. She was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church, and she enjoyed fishing, spending time with her family, and shopping. She also loved hunting with her husband, Billy, and taking many trips to the beach with her niece, Crystal.

Although she didn’t have any children of her own, she was the second mother and grandmother to all of her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lawson was a special caregiver to her niece, Ashley Hill. Ashley spent most of her time with Mindel and Billy, and in return, she helped to take care of Mindel in her last days. Her niece, Crystal, also provided her with excellent in-home care during her illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie Mae and Burt Harris, and sisters, Bobbie Barrett (Charles).

Mrs. Lawson is survived by her husband of 53 years, William R. “Billy” Lawson; brother, Charles L. Harris (Maxine); special nieces, Crystal Wilson (Jonathan) and Ashley Hill; honorary grandchildren, Elijah, Chloe, and Waylon Wilson, and a host of other nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Mindel’s family would like to offer a sincere thank you to her hospice nurses, Lea and Danna; sitters, Johnnie Sue and Sherri, and everyone at Express Pharmacy for their excellent care.

Nolan Lawson, Tyler Lawson, Mason Lawson, Elijah Wilson, Waylon Wilson, and Jonathan Wilson Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Lawson’s family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Hepzibah Baptist Church building fund at 5329 Renfroe Road, Talladega, AL 35160.
