Edward Eugene Ferguson Sr., 83, of Cropwell, AL passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. A graveside ceremony will be held in his honor at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Midway Memory Gardens with Luke Miller officiating.

Mr. Ferguson was a native of Talladega but currently resided in Cropwell. He graduated from Winterboro High School in 1961 where he played varsity baseball and basketball. Immediately following graduation, Edward joined the workforce. He worked in the consumer lending industry for more than 40 years before retiring from Community Bank. During his career, he played a crucial role in starting two successful finance companies, the last being First Community Credit where he served as President and CEO. However, he spent the bulk of his extensive career at Security Mutual in Talladega where he touched many lives in the community.

Edward was a member of Winterboro Baptist Church, and he was an avid sports fan, especially University of Tennessee football and NASCAR. Honorable, dignified, and incredibly intelligent, he deeply cared for others. He had a giving heart, and his family meant the world to him. Mr. Ferguson was a very loving husband, father, and “Papa” who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene “Dude” Ferguson.

Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife of 30 years, Frankie Brewer Ferguson; mother, Mildred Ferguson; sons, Edward Ferguson Jr. (Stacy), Paul Ferguson (Annan), and Michael Ferguson (Mary); 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Ferguson King (Donnie), Ellen Ferguson Hayes (Paul), and Susie Ferguson Mizzell, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mark Brewer, Ben Miller, Luke Miller, Brandon Freeman, Greg Morgan, and Greg Lee will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Ferguson’s sons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
