William Patrick “Pat” Burrell, a devoted family man, known lovingly and affectionately as “PawPaw”, a proud veteran, and lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide fan, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 77. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and unwavering loyalty to his family, friends, community, and beloved Alabama.
Born on March 21, 1948, in Talladega, Alabama, Pat was the son of the late Barton and Della Burrell. He grew up in the Bemiston community of Talladega. He was a proud graduate of Talladega High School, where he excelled on the basketball court, forging lasting friendships and memories. His competitive spirit and dedication carried through every aspect of his life.
A true patriot, Pat served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage and commitment to his country. After his military service, he dedicated his career to the Alabama Power Company where he worked diligently until his retirement. His strong work ethic and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
An avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Pat never missed the opportunity to cheer passionately for his team, through every sport and in every season.
But above all, he was a well loved and respected man by anyone who ever had the honor of knowing him. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends, all of whom he shared countless joyful moments and memories.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Barton and Della Burrell, his brother, Glenn Burrell, and his beloved wife, Connie. He is survived by his son, Chad Jones (Elana), three granddaughters, Molly, AnnaGrace, and Ryals, and brother, Dan Burrell. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
His family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega from 2:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Visitation will be followed by a graveside ceremony at 4:00 P.M. at Pine Hill Memorial Park with Robert Klotz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org) in his honor.
The family wishes to extend appreciation to NHC and NHC Place staff and nurses for the loving and caring time spent during the past three years. Their love for him was evident daily through their selfless dedication, compassionate care, and unwavering commitment to his comfort and dignity.
PawPaw will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and infectious enthusiasm for life.
