Clayton C. Garner was born on September 10, 1931 in Cleburne County, Alabama, lived the majority of his life in Pell City and Cropwell, Alabama, and passed from this life on September 23, 2025 at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his parents Amos and Cora Garner, 2 brothers and 4 sisters, and an infant grandson, Andrew James McVey.

Clayton was a proud United States Navy Veteran who served from 1952-1956 aboard 4 aircraft carriers during the Korean War. After his enlistment was completed, Clayton went to Pensacola, Florida and took professional floral design training. Afterwards, Clayton returned to Pell City and was the proud owner of Clayton's Flowers. He took great joy and pride in providing his thoughtful advice and creative touch for many floral arrangements that graced births, weddings, funerals, get wells, and the many special events that marked people's lives in the community.

When Clayton wasn't designing flowers, he spent his time enjoying his small herd of purebred Nubian Goats, gardening, building and designing his own slice of backyard paradise in Cropwell that he called Miracle Acres, painting florals on canvases, tinkering on an old piano, talking family genealogy, feeding cats, raccoons, and o'possums alike, making jewelry with old beads, looking for treasures in the local thrift store, and always talking to people when he made the rounds to Jacks, Dairy Queen, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, or the feed store. You never knew where he might pop up in town, but when and where always resulted in him speaking to everyone he came across.

Clayton is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dean Garner; his daughter, Michelle Leigh Garner McVey and son-in-Law, John Edward McVey; grandson, Daniel McVey and his wife, Briley McVey; granddaughter, Lily McVey and her fiance, Jayden Pyles; one sister and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Usrey Funeral Home - Pell City on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with friends gathering from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Valley Hill Memorial Cemetery.
