A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at My Moonlight Ridge, 44644 AL Hwy 77, Ashland, AL 36251, with Mark Sasser and Jimmy Hallman officiating. His family will recieve friends for two hours prior to the ceremony. Interment will follow directly after the service at Chandler Springs Assembly Cemetery.

Mr. Hill was a native and lifelong resident of Ashland, AL. He worked in the wildlife management industry and was employed with H.B. Enger and Arris for over 20 years. Gerald was an exceptional cook especially when it came to meats and homemade candies. He won the Wildlife Game Cookoff multiple times—even placing third at state once. His signature tins of homemade candies and treats were always a family favorite at Christmas time when he also dressed up as the skinniest Santa on earth. Gerald was a devoted family man who was known for his exaggerated hunting and fishing tales and his amazing ghost stories. His truck could always be found loaded down with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews headed to get into some sort of an adventure. He was an exceptional teacher to them all, teaching them how to camp, fish, box, and drive a stick shift. Mr. Hill was also an avid arrowhead hunter and goldminer. Two hobbies which he also passed down to the younger generation. Making things with his hands, construction, arts and crafts, and playing electric guitar were just a few more of his never-ending talents. Gerald was truthful to a fault even if it was embellished a little bit. His family even had a running joke that said, “I know it because Gerald told me so.” He was also naturally a peacemaker, but he didn’t take anything off from anyone. He wouldn’t hesitate to protect his family. Witty and fast on his feet, he was definitely the life of the party and loved by everyone. A pillar of his family in every way, he will be greatly missed by them all.

With the exception of his family, Gerald’s greatest pride was being a loyal member of Thunder Riders Motorcycle Club where his road name was “Rambler”. He could always be found enthusiastically talking about his club or his motorcycle. He loved all of his Thunder Rider brothers deeply, and he made sure to live the Thunder Rider life every day.

Gerald is survived by his mother, Doris Humphrey; children, William “B.A.” Hill, Christy Griffin Hill, Brennan Butler (Patience), Caitlyn Butler, and JoAnna LaPoint (Matty); ol’ lady, Amy Mitchell Hill; grandchildren, Karley Campbell (Britney), Jaxon Griffin, Jadon Griffin, Kayla Hill, Lucien LaPoint, and Mavrik Martin; sisters, Ylanda Hallman (Robert) and Nena Garrett (Terrell); brother, Phillip Hill, and a host of nieces and nephews who he loved like his own children.

He was preceded in death by his son, Baby Gerald DeWayne Hill Jr.; wife, Leslie Tebo; granddaughter, MaKayla Griffin; brother, O’Neal Hill; daughter-in-law, Kym Sanders Hill, and father, Roy Hill.

Jamie Johnson, Tony Hill, Rick Mitchell, Andrew Smith, Stephen Denson, Jason Griffin, and Jay Sasser will serve as pallbearers.

The members of the Black and White Nation will serve as honorary pallbearers.
