John Cary Childers, 78, of Talladega, AL passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Mike Price officiating. His family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the ceremony at Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Childers was a native of Ripley, Mississippi, but he had been a resident of Talladega since 1957. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and a proud Vietnam Veteran. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lexington.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Olonzo Childers and Sally Mae Childers, sister Doris Edwards

Mr. Childers is survived by his sons, Brian Cary Childers (Kristie) and Andrew Wade Childers (Sharon); sister, Mary Lois Mizzell; grandchildren, Steven Childers, Jasmine Devine, Dixie Windsor, Thomas Harwell, Delanie Childers, and Darcie Childers, and 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, John’s family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Hall of Heros Museum, P.O. Box 1114, Talladega, AL 35161.
