Rodney Wayne Gilliland, 17, of Munford, AL passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025. His family will receive friends at Munford Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Munford Baptist Church with John Harris officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service at Munford Memorial Cemetery.

Rod attended Munford High School where he was a dedicated member of the football, track, and fishing teams. He loved working at Camp Mac for the last two years and cherished his time there dearly. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed bass fishing as well. Rod was a vibrant light wherever he went, forever brightening the day for those around him. Known for his kind and respectful spirit, he always managed to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Rod is survived by his parents, Candice Johnson Gilliland and Michael Gilliland, grandparents, Marie Johnson, Jerry Sims, and Connie and Wayne Gilliland; great-grandmother, Deborah Popham Wade; aunts and uncles, Jessica and Cody Gilliland, Patrick Wayne Hurst, Stephanie Braden, Stacey Hicks, Roger and Victoria Johnson, Tim and Felicia Johnson, Jamie and Wendy Popham, and Jason Popham; cousins, Garrett Bennett, Sean and Hannah Johnson, Olivia and Nick Huffman, Hannah Lindsey, Lauryn Johnson, Dale Johnson, Hayden Gilliland, Holly Gilliland, and a host of additional cousins, and extended family, Teresa Hicks, and Wayne and Lily Hicks.

Austin Wade, Carter Rivera, BJ Anderson, Brennan Ball, Kayden Mosley and Tanner Garrison will serve as pallbearers.
