Mr. Williams was a native of Talladega but lived in Ragland. He graduated from
Talladega High School in 1967 and went on to join the United States Army where he was
a part of the military police. After serving in the Army, Jay returned home to Talladega.
He then earned both a bachelors and masters degree in criminal justice from Jacksonville
State University. Mr. Williams worked as an officer at the Anniston Police Department
before going on to have a 20-year long career as a Deputy U.S. Marshall. He was a
member of the JSU Alumni Association and a lifelong member of Colt Collectors and
Alabama Gun Collectors. Mr. Williams was Baptist by faith and an avid hunter. He had a
vast collection of Colt guns as well as various other antique and rare firearms—he was
quite the expert. This led to him becoming a very well-known and knowledgeable gun
collector. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Marion Williams, and longtime friend,
Donna.
Mr. Williams is survived by his cousins, John Tucker (Diane), Susan Tucker, and Alice
Williams Meaders, and a host of lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers, Jay’s family asks that donations be made in his memory to any charity
of your choice.
