Herbert Ray Jones, 83, of Talladega, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1942, in West Blocton, Alabama, to Edward Louis and Johnnie Irene Jones.

Herbert was preceded in death by his siblings, Jackie Tidwell, Betty Oden and Edward Jones; his brother-in-law, Bobby Jones, and his son, Timmy Bordelon.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Dorita Jones; his children, Ray Deason (Debra), Glenn Deason (Kristy), Dain Jones, Cary Jones, Jill Ragsdale (Doyle), Joey Bordelon (Jennifer), and Lisa Whitten (Jon). He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

Herbert was a man who truly embraced life. He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, uncle, and friend with a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome. He never met a stranger, and his kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, gardening, and cheering on his youngest grandchildren at soccer games. His infectious laughter and the many stories he shared will be the things most remembered. Herbert was a proud member of Hepzibah Baptist Church and a beloved part of his community. A fun fact about him was his lifelong love for hotdogs—particularly those prepared by Mrs. Suzanne.

Services to honor Herbert's life will be held on Thursday, July 03, 2025, at Hepzibah Baptist Church, located at 5329 Renfroe Road, Talladega, Alabama, 35160. Visitation will take place from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 A.M. Pastor Chuck Oliver and Beaver Tinsley will officiate. Interment will follow directly after the services at Hepzibah Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Andrew Connell, Levi Couch, AJ Ragsdale, Eli Ragsdale, Adam Strong, and Jason Tidwell.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Hakim, Dr. Khdair, Hematology and Oncology Associates of Alabama, Lakeside Hospice, Tracy Tinsley, Mable Cohill, Lee Keith, Ray Nevin, the men of Berean, and the women of the Elizabeth Sunday School classes at Hepzibah Baptist Church.
