Jess Cole Cook Obituary

Jess Cole Cook, a beloved man cherished by many, passed away in his home on May 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on September 14, 1944 to Malcolm and Augusta Cook, Cole lived a life marked by kindness, strength, and deep devotion to his family.


He spent over 30 years working as a millwright at Kimberly-Clark, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. After retirement, Cole embraced his passions—spending time in his shop, tending to his impressive garden, building birdhouses, enjoying nature, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. He truly had the biggest heart for his family and found joy in life’s simple pleasures.


Cole is survived by his sons, Blake Cook (Lee), Toby Cook (Christy), and Allen Peek (Lisa); daughter, Becky Embry; brother, Bo Cook, and a host of grandchildren, Bliss Hubbard (Lance), Kendall Freeman (Jason), Madison Justice (Daniel), Karson Palmer (Preston), Cortney Seaman (Gabe), Makala Cook, Ashley Gallman, Autumn Myers (Matt), Matthew Carr (Tiffany), Austin Shiflett (Brittany), and Emma Moore. He also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.


He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, O’Neil Cook; his parents, Malcolm and Augusta Cook; his brother, George Cook, and his great-granddaughter, Charlee Tayt Hubbard.


The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega, followed by a graveside service at Alpine Cemetery in Alpine, Alabama with Pastor Tharel Shirah officiating. All are welcome to attend and honor Cole’s memory.


Pallbearers will be Matthew Carr, Austin Shiflett, Daniel Justice, Preston Palmer, Jason Freeman, and Gabe Seaman.


Honorary pallbearers are Lance Hubbard, Easton Hubbard, Larry Vincent, Mike Green and Jerry Cason.


Cole’s legacy of love, craftsmanship, and kindness will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
