Julia Tomlin Brown Obituary

Julia Tomlin Brown was born at home in Riverside, AL, to William and Frances Tomlin on March 12, 1950, and ran into the arms of Jesus on May 25, 2025.

Julia was raised in a loving home with 2 brothers and 1 sister. At the young age of 17, Julia married the love of her life, Jimmy Brown, while he was serving in the US Navy. When Jimmy went to his Heavenly home on March 9, 2021, he and Julia had been married for 53 years. Their loving marriage brought forth 3 children, Jeannie(Cabot) Cañas, Bubba Brown, and Jamye(Johnny) Calvin.

Julia was an active and devoted member of Christ Unity Church, where she openly expressed and lived her faith.

Most of Julia’s kingdom work included her steadfast love and dedication to her grandchildren, Karsen(Logan), Kelsey(Ryan), Morgan(Clint), Ethan(Oscha), Cody(Tori), Karlyn, and her great-Grandchildren, Addie, Kyler, Ryley, Hudsen, Clay, and Baby Cornutt due Fall 2025. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Wheeler; special friend, Gail Chandler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Julia is preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances Tomlin, the love of her life, Jimmy Brown, and her brothers, Richard “Naily” Tomlin and Billy Tomlin.

Julia never had idle hands. Her days were full of purpose and joy — whether she was working in the yard, tending to her chickens, horses, and farm animals, or simply spending cherished time with her beloved husband, Jimmy, and their family.

Together, Jimmy and Julia built Brown’s Cleaning Service from the ground up and successfully ran it for over 30 years. More than just a business, they saw it as a ministry opportunity, using their work as a platform to share the gospel and serve their community with grace and integrity.

Julia loved the simple pleasures of life: porch swinging during rainstorms, diving into Scripture, and reading her Bible. She found immense joy in caring for her animals, being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and staying close to the love of her life, Jimmy.

She lived with a servant’s heart, always giving without expecting anything in return. A devoted caregiver to many loved ones and a fierce prayer warrior, Julia exemplified the spirit of unconditional love and faith.

Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 40:31 —

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Julia’s legacy of faith, love, and tireless devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
