Jewel Dean Russell, 78, of Talladega, AL passed away at her home on Monday, April 29, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honor of her and her late husband, Billy Gene Russell, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 03, 2025 at First Freewill Baptist Church with Earl Sanders officiating.
Mrs. Russell was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She retired from Crown Textile after many years of service and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Russell was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed greatly.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby Lee Griffin and Billy Gene Russell; parents, Henry Shade Gaither and Margaret Geneva Gaither; sisters, Linda Gaither, Alice Faye Parton, and Henrietta Neville, and brother, Steve Gaither.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her daughter, Jewel Denise Decker (John); son, David Duane Griffin (Tonya); sisters, Inez Ferguson and Sara Pilkington; brothers, Danny Gaither (Diana) and Ralph Gaither (Trish); grandchildren, Kalyn Griffin, Daton Griffin, Andrew Decker (Melissa), Brandy Hardwick (Cody), and Tad Griffin (Jackie), and great-grandchildren, Abigail Gordy, Elsie Hardwick, Chris Bonvicin, Aurora Bonvincin, Alex Griffin, and Oakleigh Griffin.
