Obituary of Flora Jean Gunter

Mrs. Flora Jean Gunter, 81, of Pell City, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Flora had a deep love for flowers and took great joy in keeping her yard beautiful, a true reflection of the warmth she brought to every space she touched. The sound of her great-grandchildren’s little feet brought her endless happiness, and nothing lit up her face more than time spent with them. A social soul, she cherished her card games and laughter-filled afternoons with her closest friends. She had a flair for style and passion for shopping, always drawn to home décor and remodeling shows that sparked her creativity. Strong-willed and determined, she knew exactly what she wanted and never wavered-right up until the very end. Her presence was a gift, her spirit unshakeable, and her love unforgettable. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel R. Gunter; bonus son, Sammy Gunter; parents, Earl and Eula Mae Godwin; sister, Wilma Dutton; and brothers, Buddy Godwin, Joe Godwin, and Maury Rich. She is survived by her children, Tracie Wright (Danny), Tim Gunter (Kathy), and Robbie Young (Kris); bonus daughter, Pam Thompson (Eddie); grandchildren, Chris Gunter (Allison), Keri Scales, Anna Turner (Brandon), Kristina Palmer (Lee), April Hudson (Reed), Seth Gunter, and Caleb Gunter; and great-grandchildren, Zoe Palmer, Jackson Gunter, Piper Turner, Thomas Scales, Boyd Scales, Caroline Moore, Ayla Palmer, Millie Turner, Gunter Johnson, and Rylee Moore. The funeral service for Mrs. Gunter will be held at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, with Bro. Allen Bain officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Kris Young, Bryan Price, Scot Smith, Tim Bryant, Charles Townsend, and Brandon Turner. Glen Howard, Walter Castleberry, and Eddie Thompson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
