Jonathan Walter Cooper Obituary

Jonathan Walter Cooper, 44, of Riverside, Alabama, formerly of Rienzi, Mississippi, passed away on March 5, 2025.


A graduate of Blue Mountain Christian University, Jonathan was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. He took great joy in being “Uncle J” to Layla and Cade, cherishing every moment spent spoiling them.


He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Buster May; grandparents, Clarence and Clara Cooper and Fred and Catherine Lunceford; uncle, Clarence Cooper Jr.; and aunt, Darlene Cooper.


He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Sherry May; father, Charlie Cooper (Rhonda); brother, Jared Cooper (Courtney); niece, Layla Cooper; nephew, Caden Cooper; and cousins, Clarence Cooper III and Amy Harbison (David).


The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Bro. Ronny Barefield, Bro. Floyd Lamb, and Bro. Charlie Cooper. Interment will take place at St. Clair Memorial Gardens.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Foster Aid Ministry, serving St. Clair County, Alabama (fosteraidministry.org).
