Obituary of Alice Mims Obert
Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice Mims Obert, 84, passed away on February 2, 2025. She was born on November 28, 1940 to
Herman Baylor Mims and Lillian Payne Mims at Citizens Hospital in Talladega, Alabama. In June,
1959, Alice M. Mims married Sam R. Obert in Talladega, Alabama and together they had three sons,
Mark Christopher Obert, Keith David Obert, and Samuel Alexander Obert.
Alice Mims Obert was a graduate of Talladega High School and thereafter attended the University
of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and Berry College in Rome, Georgia and obtained a Bachelor of Science
degree in Education from Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee. Alice taught school
in the Memphis City Public Schools, at Towering Oaks Baptist School and at Briarcrest Baptist
School for several years while living in Memphis from 1969 until 2005. During that time, she was
active and held leadership roles in the Parkway Village Garden Club, New Memphian Club, several
bridge clubs, and was an active member of Wooddale Church of Christ and White Station Church
of Christ. In 2005, Sam and Alice moved to Ridgeland, Mississippi, where she attended and was an
active member of Meadowbrook Church of Christ and worked as the Office Manager at the law firm
of Obert Law Group, P.A. in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Everyone who knew Alice enjoyed her
hospitable, friendly, outgoing nature and great personality and she still has friends today dating back
to her early school days in Talladega, her time in Pensacola, Florida, Rome, Georgia, Decatur,
Alabama, Memphis, Tennessee and Ridgeland, Mississippi. It has been said many times of Alice that
“she never met a stranger, and she never lost a friend.”

Christopher Obert (Lesley) of West Memphis, Arkansas, Keith David Obert (Alaine) of Madison,
