Obituary of Betty Fay Johnson

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Fay Johnson, 87, of Talladega, AL passed away at her home on Monday, January 27, 2025. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in her honor at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 01, 2025 at Southside Baptist Church with Josh Henderson officiating. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Johnson was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She enjoyed sewing and was a seamstress by trade. She also worked at Winn-Dixie arranging flowers for many years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she cooked and helped in the kitchen whenever she could. She loved watching the Atlanta Braves and University of Alabama football games. She made it her life’s mission to help anyone that she could and was always there whenever anyone needed her. She kept herself busy and on the go constantly and was affectionately called “Go Go Betty” as a result. She was also known to everyone as “Maw-Maw”. It was abundantly clear that she loved living life, her grandchildren, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Johnson; daughter, Vicki Fincher; parents, Elijah and Viola Freeman, and brothers, Olin Freeman, Fred Freeman, and Lawrence Freeman. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Carol Johnson (Grace Dyal) and Julie Key; grandchildren, Cody Fincher (Ashley), Seth Gamble, Alyssa Jennings (Chris), and Amber Key (Aaron Briski); great-grandchildren, Jayde Gamble, Blaine Gamble, Paisley Jordan, Easton Jennings, and Christopher Jennings; sister, Mary Lois Ingram; brother, Wayne Freeman (Kathy), and a host of nieces and nephews. Flowers may be delivered to Southside Baptist Church, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Johnson’s memory to Southside Baptist Church at www.southsidetalladega.org. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is assisting her family.
