Obituary of Emmer Jean Parton
Please share a memory of Emmer to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Emmer Jean Parton, 92, of Talladega, AL passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Stockdale Baptist Church with Kevin Jones and David Gaither officiating. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the service at Stockdale Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Parton was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega with the exception of a brief period of time when her and her husband, S.A. Parton, moved to Jackson, TN when Bemiston Textile Mill was relocated. She was a member of Stockdale Baptist Church and attended services there for her entire life. She loved going to church where she enjoyed worshipping, singing, and fellowshipping with all of her friends. Emmer was also an avid bowler and bowled in different leagues for over 50 years. Mrs. Parton bowled up until she was ninety-one years old and sadly had to give it up after she fell, broke her thumb, and could no longer hold her bowling ball, but she loved her bowling family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S.A. “Littlen” Parton; grandson, Bret Pope; sons-in-law, Ronnie Pope and Eddie Muncher; two brothers, and four sisters.
Mrs. Parton is survived by her son, Tony Parton (Jan); daughters, Sandra Pope, Gloria Bannister (Danny), and Patsy Holt (Donnie); grandchildren, Michelle West, Scott Pope, Kerrie Heath, Jeffrey Muncher, and Lora Cook; great-grandchildren, Skyler Yates, Spencer Yates, Aiden Pope, Jackson Heath, Ava Muncher, Lydia Cook, and Laila Muncher; sister, Ann Armbrester (George); sister-in-law, Margaret Gaither, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Scott Pope, Jeffrey Muncher, Doug Heath, Brad Cook, Erick West, Jackson Heath, Spencer Yates, and Aiden Pope will serve as pallbearers.
Emmer Jean, Mother, Grand-Maw, or whatever she was to you, she had great compassion for all of her friends, but especially her family. She will surely be missed here on this earth, but she is having a grand reunion with her husband and other family members that passed on before her. Rest in peace, Emmer Jean Parton.
