James Roy Cooley – Talladega

James Roy Cooley passed away February 15, 2018 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Jon Adams officiating. His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm also at Usrey Funeral Home.

He was an avid Alabama Football fan, fisherman & softball player who loved his family first. A long-time member of First Baptist Church & the George Ricker Sunday School class. He was retired from Kimberly Clark and a Naval World War II veteran. Mr. Cooley was also a native and lifelong resident of Talladega.

Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Eunice Boggs Cooley; parents, George W. and Belle B. Cooley; 7 brothers, George, Thomas, John Ed, Hugh, Buddy, Ben, Dwight;  7 sisters, Velma, Sara, Kathleen, Lucy, Elsie, Mary Ann and Mabelle. He was the last of 15.

He is survived by his children, Dianne C. Pritchett, Barry Cooley (Christi), Kim C. Green (Joel); grandchildren, Rodney Pritchett, Brian Pritchett, Lori C. Harrell, Jay Cooley, Jared Cooley, Kevin Green, Kyle Green; great grandchildren, Hannah Pritchett, Zoie Pritchett, Christian Pritchett, Blakley Harrell, Tucker Harrell, Kidman Cooley, Alyssa Cooley, Brantley Cooley; special care givers, Deborah Bush and Carolyn Robertson.

Pall bearers will be his nephews, Mark Cooley, Matt Storey, Johnny Norred, Tommy Knight, Brian Barksdale and Scott Pressley. Honorary Pall bearers are all his nephews.
