Obituary of Gilbert M. Pope

~~Ragland – Mr. Gilbert M. Pope, 89, of Ragland, Alabama passed away on November 24, 2017 in Ragland.

Mr. Pope was a member and deacon of Broken Arrow Baptist Church.  He was a retired supervisor with National Cement Company and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Pope, sisters, Christine Smith and Lillie Callahan, and by his brother, Marvin Pope.

He is survived by his daughter, Gail Carlisle (Wayne); sister Jewel Sollie; grandchildren Laura Goforth (Alex) and Lindsey Oliver; and by a great-grandson, Luke Goforth.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Broken Arrow Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Crump and the Rev. Doug Ford officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City.
