Obituary of Thomas Lon Nicholson

~~Mr. Thomas Lon "Tommy" Nicholson, 73, of Cropwell, Alabama passed away on August 13, 2017 in Cropwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeanette Bullard Nicholson, and by his sister, Henrietta McDonald.

Tommy was a 1962 graduate of B.B. Comer High School. He was Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran.   Following his military service he was a Deputy with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Memphis, Tennessee.   Tommy was a Manufacturer’s Representative for commercial lighting in Birmingham.  For the last 14 years he was Fire Alarms Coordinator with T & B Construction/MRD Apartments.

He loved entertaining on his back porch on Logan Martin Lake. Tommy never met a stranger, and once you met him you never forgot him.  He was known in the Karaoke world as "Tommy Two Tone".  Tommy loved his Alabama Football.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna Martin Nicholson; children, Nicki (Corey) Merritt, Keith (Cora) Nicholson, and  Kevin Nicholson; brother, Jimmy (Rachel) Nicholson;  grandchildren, Katlyn (Kolby) Hughes and Phillip Zuccala, III; and by special loved ones, Sebastian and Gigi Nicholson.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday August 17, 2017 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with the Rev. Duane Player officiating.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

 Pallbearers will be Oscar Bennett, Chuck Loren, Mike Brayman, Chuck Jaggers, Bill DeLong and Greg Gossett.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Breakey, Mike Teeter, John Robison, and the Staff of MRD Apartments.
