Obituary of Curtis Dewitte Self

Funeral services for Mr. Curtis Dewitte Self, 92 of Oxford will be Friday March 24, 2017 at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm with Jack York and Christy Dodson officiating. Burial will be at Coldwater Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Usrey. Mr. Self passed away after a long illness on Tuesday March 21, 2017. He loved the lord and was a decorated World War II Navy Veteran, a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and retired from Anniston Army Depot. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed. Mr. Self is survived by his children Norma Ledbetter of Talladega, Jane Nelson (Wayne) of Alexandria, Pam Bishop (James), and David Self (Denise) both of Oxford. 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, brother Ed Self (Evelyn) sister Juanita Hurst, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Imogene Pearce Self, his son Curtis Lamar Self, and his foster daughter Kathy Muldoon. Pallbearers will be his loving grandsons, Jared Welch, Joseph Welch, Steve Harper, Mike Perry, Shannon Dodson and Philip Pitts.
