Obituary of Judith Rea Weaver Ayres

Judith Rea Weaver Ayres , a lifelong resident of Pell City, passed away at home in the care of her loved ones on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Judy, born on October 14, 1936, graduated from Pell City High School as a member of the Class of 1954. After graduation, Judy attended Howard College. She later began her career with the Federal Civil Service, where she worked at NASA in Huntsville and with Social Security until her retirement. Judy was a woman of faith with a deep love of Christ, and a lifelong member of the Baptist church. Judy was much loved by her surviving children: Ellen Meads Wilson (Faul), Judy Meads Walker, and Bob Meads (Staci), her brother, Jack “Butch” Weaver (Patsy); and sister, Nickie McKee (Charlie). She was a grandmother to Michael Layton, Corey Layton, Andrew “Hap” Layton, Nicholas Walker (Jordon), Taylor Meads and Lindsey Meads. She was also a great-grandmother to Ashley Rowell, Brianna Layton, Brittany Layton, Lucas Layton and Adeline Walker, as well as an aunt to a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Ayres, her father, Bill, her mother, Eloise, and her brother, Allen. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 12, 2016 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with Bro. Benny Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at Valley Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 at the funeral home.
