Kate Willis Hughes, 85, of Thorsby passed away Thursday, November 24. Graveside services for Mrs. Hughes will be Sunday, November 26 at Harkey’s Chapel at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at Usrey funeral home on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m.
She was born November 1, 1931, in Birmingham to the late Pruet O. Willis and the late Nell D. Willis.
Surviving are her daughters, Carla (James) Lumpkin of Thorsby; Connie (Rusty) Fox of Bremen, Georgia; Cindy (Chris) Askew of Winder, Georgia; and Cathy Kidd of Riverchase; sister, Jane (Jim) Smith of Fort Payne; brother, Robert (Susan) Willis of Bloomfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton D. Hughes; granddaughter, Bethany Fox; sister, Mary Pittman; and brothers, Rae Willis, Jimmy Willis, and Frank Willis.
