Willodean (Dean) Easterling Searcy, 87, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 20 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 am at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Minister Ron Hurst will officiate. Dean was born in Chilton County. Later her family moved to Talladega County where she graduated from Childersburg High School. She spent her career as an administrative secretary for the Auburn University Extension Service for 34 years. She served as a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years in various positions from nursery worker, Sunday school teacher to church hostess. MeeMaw was a wonderful cook and took pride in sharing her many delicious recipes, especially her cheese straws. Her favorite past time was taking trips to the beach with her family. She doted on her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Searcy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Robert (Bob) Searcy, son-in-law Wayne (Rocky) Washam, and her parents Jessie L. and Joseph E. Easterling. She is survived by her daughters Charlotte S. Washam, Joy S. Bittle (Gerald), grandchildren Many Thornton (Patrick), Jennifer Ellis (Obed), Kyle Washum, great-grandchildren Tanner and Cate Thornton, Troy, Searcy, and Harper Ellis.
