Obituary of Cecil B. Williams

Funeral service for Cecil B. Williams, 62 of Ashland, will be Saturday May 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Talladega Church of Christ. Ronnie Hurst will officiate. His family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Williams passed away May 25, 2016. He is preceded in death by his faithful wife of 40 years, Patricia Williams, parents, David and Johnnie Williams, sister, Glenda Waldrup, brothers, Charles Williams, Dale Williams, sisters-in-law, Ruby Green, Mavis Mitchell, Euna Shirey, brother-in-law, Ray Shirey, nieces, April Haney, Laura Collins, nephew, Daniel Williams. He was a native and a longtime resident of Clay County. He was a member of Talladega Church of Christ. He was a faithful member even in time of his sickness. He loved woodworking and flowers. He was a very friendly and out-going. He never met a stranger. His home was always open and a vacation spot for family. He was loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He will be missed by all. His survivors include children, Shaun Williams, Shannon Williams Blankenship, grandchildren, Micah Blankenship, Jacob Blankenship, Jeremiah Williams, sisters, Darlene Haney (Danny), Joni Williams (Jeff), several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews along with his church family and long-time friends Roy and Glenda Hollingsworth. Pallbearers will be Micah Blankenship, A.J. “Pooter” Fain, III, Clayton “Bama” Williams, Nick Haney, Clint Williams, Scott Castleberry, Robert “Peanut” Green, and Brian Shirey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Blankenship, Michael “Little Bit” Williams, Jeff ‘Swampy” Taylor, Danny Haney, Brian Wood, Oliver Shirey, Jeff Collins, and Caleb Franklin.
