Obituary of Anne McMichen Holdridge

Anne Kathleen Howe McMichen Holdridge died February 13, 2016 at Chapman Healthcare in Alexander City, AL after an extended illness. She was the first child of the late Anne Krebs Howe of Montgomery, AL and the late Robert Maull Howe, Jr. of Tuskegee, AL. She graduated from Alabama School for the Blind in Talladega, AL in 1962. She is survived by her husband James H. Holdridge of Talladega, AL; her sons W. Todd (Rhonda) McMichen of Alexander City, AL, George R. (Jill) McMichen of Pell City, AL and W. Joseph McMichen (Allyson) of Alex City, AL; her sister Ruth Howe Liddell of Montgomery, AL and her brother Robert Maull Howe, III of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews. Kathy lived most of her life in Talladega, AL where she was very active in the Alabama Council for the Blind, the Alabama School for the Blind Alumni Association and the Talladega Rescue Squad. Through the years she held many offices in these organizations as well as membership on the boards of all three organizations. She championed the causes of the blind in this state throughout her life. Celebration service will be held Monday, February 15, 2016 at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Paula Calhoun will officiate. Her family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm. A private family burial will follow the service at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nephew: Logan McMichen, Erin McMichen, Tyler McMichen, Jackson McMichen, Kylie McMichen and Will Liddell, III. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Nolan McMichen, Chloe McMichen and Olivia McMichen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathy’s name may be made to the Talladega Chapter of the Alabama Council for the Blind in care of Rhonda and David Trott, 1018 East Street South, Talladega, AL 36160.
